How the FIRE Calculator Works

You can use this calculator to determine when you can achieve FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) based on your current situation. This provides a valuable insight: am I on the right track to achieve my FIRE goal within the time frame I want?

To use this calculator you need to provide the following information:

  • Current age.
  • Current annual income.
  • Current annual expenses.
  • Current invested net worth.
  • Net investment growth rate.
  • Withdrawal rate.

When you’ve provided the info, you can hit the “Calculate FIRE Age” button at the bottom of the calculator. You will then see your FIRE age: the age at which you can expect to reach financial independence and be able to retire. Be aware that the assumption is that all annual income after expenses is invested.

Feel free to run several scenarios through the calculator to see how you can achieve your financial goals.
